Strategic Cooperation between Nanjing University and Lanzhou University

The Schools of Journalism and Communication of Nanjing University and Lanzhou University will carry out in-depth strategic cooperation in joint construction of schools, departments and Party branches, joint academic research and exchange, student development, social practice and social services, according to a letter of intent the two schools signed recently when the CPC committee and administration of the School of Journalism and Communication of Nanjing University visited its counterpart at Lanzhou University. 

Feng Cheng, dean of the School of Journalism and Communication of Lanzhou University, said that he has always regarded the School of Journalism and Communication of Nanjing University as a model. This cooperation is crucial to the development of his school at Lanzhou University, and he hoped to draw on the experiences and resources of the school at Nanjing University in order to make up for the shortcomings and raise the disciplinary construction to a new level.

Zhang Hongjun, executive dean of the School of Journalism and Communication of Nanjing University, said that the two schools both face similar challenges and both have a strong desire for development. The signing of this letter of intent provided a strategic framework for the two sides to work together, and thus both sides should give full play to their respective strong points, refine and implement specific projects, and grow together.

Liu Yuan, the NJU schools CPC committee secretary, traced the long friendship between the two schools. He also shared a specific case in which the NJU school has integrated ideological and political education into disciplinary construction and student development and pointed out that the two schools have a high degree of similarity and complementarity, and there is a wide space for exploration in the future.

Hu Yiqing, a vice dean of the School of Journalism and Communication of Nanjing University, then introduced the initiatives and experience of the school in the construction of its graduate programs, especially its doctoral programs.

Zhang Shuoxun, the Lanzhou University schools CPC committee secretary, expressed his gratitude to the NJU school for the visit and hoped that the two schools could visit each other regularly in the future so as to deepen the friendship among teachers and students of two schools.

The CPC committee and administration of the School of Journalism and Communication of Nanjing University also visited the digital media experimental platform at Lanzhou University, and the two sides had discussions on the topics of disciplinary construction, talent introduction, student development, and ideological and political education work. Vice president Li Xiaoyu and Professor Duan Jingsu spoke during the discussions.
